Illustrated by Lawson, Robert. Stated second printing before publication, 1944, winner of the 1945 Newbery Medal. Fully illustrated in glorious sepia by the author, endpapers are simply stunning. Jacket shows expected wear but is in very good shape save for a "clean" spot where a Newbery sticker was once affixed; a fragment of the sticker remains and I did not try to remove it.
